Hi,

I wonder if someone could help me with an issue that I have. I know that
the TS license servers (Win 2000) talk to the MS clearing house via TCP port
443, but what I'm after is what addresses or subnets that the license server
talks to, as I am in the process of implementing a new firewall and I want to
restrict this traffic to as few external hosts as possible.

Also, is it only the one license server that talks to the clearing house, or
do the TS servers also have the ability to talk to the clearing house?

The license server only talks *once* to the Clearinghouse, when
you activate the LS, and only if you choose the "Internet" method.

If you use the WWW method instead, you can use any other Internet
connected workstation to enter your license information and then
activate the LS. The LS doesn't have to have Internet connection
at all.
You can also use the fax or telephone method.

Once the LS is activated, no machine contacts the Clearinghouse.
The clients contact the Terminal Server, the TS contacts the LS
and retrieves a license on bahalf of the client, the TS passes the
license on to the client.

Here are the details about activatiuon methods:

Services Licensing in Windows 2000
